Since the first statistics came out in July 2024, the GSGB hub has recorded over 5,200 visits, with raw data downloaded nearly 50 times within a month of its February 2025 release. This data has already fuelled several external studies. The OSR praised the Commission’s dedication and the appointment of Professor Patrick Sturgis for an independent review but called for improved quality assurance and clearer communication on data uncertainties, especially in methodology, highlighted by Professor Sturgis’ independent review. The Gambling Commission asked the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) to assess the Gambling Statistics for Great Britain (GSGB) against the Code of Practice.
